Iím a founder member of DSW, and currently co-chair. I graduated as a mature student from Derby Uni where I had a life-changingly great time! Along with other writing graduates we founded DSW because we wanted to continue to benefit from those crucial constructive criticism sessions we enjoyed at University. Writing can be a solitary business, and the support and inspiration of other working writers is priceless. Derbyshire Scriptwriters provide this :-))

Since graduating Iíve worked as a scriptwriter for BBC 1 day time drama ĎDoctorsí, and on the writing team for BBC's first on line sitcom 'Cleaners'. I've had short stories broadcast on Radio 4 and published in magazines in the UK, along with features and short stories published in the UK and internationally. My play 'Special Offer' was selected as runner up in the International Student Playwright Competition and produced in Exeter. My one act and two act stage plays and monologues have been produced in Derby's Playhouse Studio Theatre, in Staffordshire, and toured by Sustained Magic Theatre Company in various venues in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Since graduating I have worked for Arts Council England as Literature Officer for the East Midlands, as Project Co-ordinator for Sustained Magic Theatre Company and as a national short story competition judge. I offer one to one tuition for writers, create bespoke writing courses for groups, tutor day and residential writing courses (Short Story Writing, Telling Tales, Writing from Memory, and lead Retreats for television, radio short story and novel writers) in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Devon, Yorkshire, and at Denman College in Oxfordshire.

Currently I'm having an exciting time working as a specialist Life Writing Facilitator with life story writing days and residential courses all over the United Kingdom. Everyone's life experiences are unique, and life writing enables participants to revisit, recapture and record their 'stories' for themselves, and their families. The inspiration often comes from a wish to include their own memories, secrets, family legends and anecdotes, into a wider family history research, adding a wonderful personal dimension to the finished project. Life writing groups always generate a 'feel good' factor because people love sharing their stories. I also have my own writing 'work in progress' - two television scripts at second draft stage and two short stories for UK women's magazines. To read more about my Life Story Writing Courses visit my website www.lifestorywriting.co.uk. or contact me by email at chrissie@lifestorywriting.co.uk or ring me on 07856897227

I like writing comedy, nothing compares with sitting at the back of a theatre and listening to an audience laughing at a line or a situation I've created. Not all my scripts and stories are comedic, but they're all rooted in the real world, where comedy and tragedy exist side by side and sometimes unexpectedly overlap.

My other interests include politics, theatre, radio drama, baking and gardening in my allotment. I work as national co-ordinator for www.infertrust.org a national registered charity offering support advice and networking opportunities for those affected by gun misuse.
